GCSE 2013

Following on from Tarporley High School’s record breaking A Level results last week, Tarporley’s Year 11 students have once again excelled in their GCSE examinations.   The class of 2013 has truly embraced their year group theme of ‘Rise to the Challenge’ having achieved the highest ever percentage of 5 or more GCSE passes at A*-C including English and Maths, at 76%.   Impressively, these talented and hardworking students have also achieved the school’s highest ever percentage of top grades, with 37% of all grades at A*/A.

Head teacher Sarah Lee said “We are overwhelmingly proud of all our students.  They have shown outstanding commitment and motivation throughout their time at Tarporley and this is reflected in their academic results.  As a school, we continue our exceptionally high standards with a quarter of all of our students gaining at least 7A* and A grades.  Our twenty highest achieving girls and boys have 238 A*/A grades between them, whilst every single student has passed at least 5 GCSEs, enabling all to progress either to A Level study here at our Sixth Form College, or to pursue their chosen college and training courses.  I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our students and thank their families for all the support they have given over the last five years.   I would also like to offer my congratulations also to our talented staff whose dedication to the students has contributed to these momentous results, and to their inspirational Year Leader, Miss Cheshire.

Special congratulations go to:

“Today has been an absolute pleasure for us here at school”, said Jason Lowe, Director of Sixth Form, “They have been an outstanding year group who have not only developed academically during their time here at Tarporley, but also personally, as individuals. Our students have contributed so much to the life of the school and to the local community, and are frequently praised for their mature approach, their teamwork and their leadership. Today is a fitting reward for all their hard work, supported by their families and the dedicated staff at the school. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them every success in their next pathway in life. We really will miss them all!”
