The Governing Body consists of Community Governors, Parent Governors, Teacher and Support Staff Governors.
The Full Governing Body meet once a term and there are also five different Committees: Strategic Development, Resources, Staffing, Teaching and Learning and Student, who also meet once a term.

Work experience: A Chartered Quantity Surveyor by profession working in Construction.  Attained a degree in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics.  Have run my own business since 1995, involving the planning, budgeting and cost control of building projects, for new schemes, as well as the maintenance and repair of existing property including residential, commercial and education.

Miss Rachel Sims

Work Experience: Currently a Teaching Assistant (Year 6) at Tarporley CE Primary School, having previously worked in nursing for 16 years (specialising in Neonatal Intensive Care). I have been a Governor at Tarporley CE Primary school for 12 years.

Mrs Sharon Varey

Work Experience: I spent my early working career as a primary teacher; the last 6 years of which I was Head of a rural primary school in Shropshire.  Having obtained a PhD in Landscape History, much of my time is devoted to landscape history research, writing and editing.  I am currently Chair of the Curriculum, Staffing and Children’s Committee at Ashton Hayes Primary School where I have been a Governor for 6 years.

Mr Roger Craig

Work Experience: I joined the police service in 1990 and I have worked in uniformed response, neighbourhood policing, tactical and roads policing, partnerships, licensing, offender management, human resource management and detective roles. I am currently a custody officer. I have worked throughout the UK and have been involved in projects to improve the performance of the police service locally and nationally. I was privileged to be deployed to London for the whole of the Olympic Games in 2012. Whilst I was studying for my first degree, I worked as a disabled student assistant for The Open University ensuring that disabled students had physical access to the university estate and support equipment and had equality of access to the learning opportunities. I have also worked as a youth worker, a volunteer reserve infantry soldier, a motorcycle dispatch rider and spent some time as a site and product security officer in the petroleum industry. In summary, whilst I have skills and experience from the world of policing, I have a passion for education and the opportunities and choices that it gives to people.

Work experience: I started my teaching career nearly eight years ago at a local secondary school facing challenging circumstances. Six years ago I moved to Tarporley High School to become Head of Business Studies. I have remained in this role since, also teaching ICT, Economics, General Studies and I deliver and lead on an ASDAN Cope course for our key stage 4 students who attend college. I have helped to lead the Student Council and for several years, have been an Assistant Year Achievement Leader. I am currently managing Literacy across the school (covering a maternity absence) and have recently been appointed as a Specialist Leader of Education within our local teaching school.

Work Experience: I started my teaching career six years ago at a local partnership secondary school. In this time I took on the role of Gifted & Talented co-ordinator with a view to developing my leadership skills and providing the stepping stone towards my ultimate goal of subject leadership. Two years ago I moved to Tarporley High School after being appointed Head of Art & Photography. During this time I sought to imbue our learners with confidence in the creative ability and see themselves as practising artists like myself. I regularly lead on the Cheshire Arts residential to Anglesey and the Sandstone Partnership Annual Art Weekend with our local primary schools. During my time at Tarporley, outside of my classroom practice I have lead on the design and rebrand of our teaching and learning magazine and developed and run interactive digital platforms on twitter and Instagram for both students and parents.

Miss Jane Hough (Support Staff)

Work Experience: Having spent some 24 years in Retail Banking, in 2009 I left my Senior Manager role to enable me to spend more time with my children, both currently students at Tarporley High School. I took a total sea-change in career direction to work as a Cover Supervisor at the school and this was subsequently amended to a Teaching Assistant post. My role within the team is mainly working with a small group of KS4 students, with a primary focus on the core subjects of English and Maths together with other option subjects. This role necessitates building a relationship with the students – some disengaged from their studies, others with stretching targets – with a goal of maximising their exam successes and ensuring they leave the school with the best possible opportunities for their further education or chosen careers.
