Y6 Open Evening 2016 v2

Year 6 Open Evening 2016

As many of you may be aware, Tarporley High School and Sixth Form College is undergoing the most significant building project on our site in over 40 years. We were successful in securing £2.5 million to improve our school buildings. The work commenced in the summer holidays and is due to be completed in January. We are very much looking forward to the improvements to our D block which will result in a significantly improved learning environment for our students. This follows on from our recently completed improvements to the facilities in our Sixth Form College.

Although teaching and learning are continuing as normal during the building work, there are many temporary changes to access routes around the site, and parking is severely limited. Because of this, we simply cannot accommodate the usual number of parents and children at one single Open Evening. To ensure that everyone who wants to can attend Open Evening we have decided to run the evening twice, on two consecutive nights, the 28th and 29th September.

It is important that we do not have too many people trying to attend on either night. We would therefore like to invite parents and children to attend the evening on the date specified below:

28th September

  • Tarvin Primary School
  • Oak View Academy
  • The Delamere C of E Academy
  • Kelsall Primary School
  • Duddon St Peters Primary School

29th September

  • Bunbury Aldersey Primary School
  • Calveley County Primary School
  • Eaton County Primary School
  • Huxley CE Primary School
  • Tarporley CE Primary School
  • Utkinton CE Primary School
  • Whitegate CE Primary School

Parents of tudents who attend a different primary school to the above can choose which night to attend. We would advise you to aim to arrive from 6.00pm. Although we are doing all we can to maximise space for cars, we are still mindful that parking on the school site is limited. If our site is full, you may be able to find a parking space in the public car park adjacent to the Community Centre on the High Street. It will be open until 10pm. There is also a larger public car park further up the High Street behind the Rising Sun public house.

On arrival, please enter the school building through our main entrance where a map of the school and a programme for the evening will be available. From there you will be directed to the school hall.

The evening will commence with a presentation at 6.30pm by Ms Lee, Headteacher, and Mr Lowe, Deputy Headteacher. The presentation is designed to give you a brief introduction to the school and an overview of the transition process throughout the year ahead. Members of the Senior Leadership Team will also be available after the presentation to answer any questions.

Following the presentation there will be:

  • Tarporley students at work in different subject areas
  • Displays of students’ work
  • Teachers and support staff in different areas of the school
  • Refreshments in the dining room

Although some classrooms will not be open in D block, you will have the opportunity to meet and speak with all the different subject leaders and teachers. There will be plenty of staff and students to guide you on the evening and answer your questions.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding over the different arrangements this year. The Open Evening is a very important occasion for us and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our school, to what we hope will be an enjoyable and informative evening for you and your child.

Yours sincerely

Sarah Lee
